About the Role
Intelacia is seeking an experienced Manager – Patent Drafting to lead and oversee its patent drafting team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the preparation of clear, comprehensive, and high-quality patent applications across diverse technical domains. This role involves mentoring drafting associates, collaborating with inventors and attorneys, and driving process excellence to uphold the firm’s standards of quality and timeliness.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of patent drafters to produce robust, high-quality patent applications in compliance with USPTO, EPO, and other relevant patent office standards.
- Conduct and facilitate inventor interviews to gain a thorough understanding of technical innovations.
- Review and provide strategic input on patent claims, specifications, and drawings.
- Mentor, train, and guide team members to improve technical depth and drafting quality.
- Collaborate effectively with inventors, legal counsel, and cross-functional teams to ensure clarity, accuracy, and completeness of patent filings.
- Stay updated on global patent laws, drafting trends, and best practices to maintain high standards.
- Drive continuous improvement in drafting workflows, documentation, and quality assurance processes.
- Ensure adherence to project timelines and deliverables while managing multiple drafting projects simultaneously.
- Experience in responding to office actions and supporting prosecution strategy is preferred.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Science, or a related technical discipline.
- 7–10 years of experience in patent drafting, including leadership or managerial responsibilities.
- Proven expertise in drafting patent applications independently across diverse technological areas (mechanical, electrical, software, biotechnology, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of USPTO and EPO drafting requirements and formalities.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with technical and legal professionals.
- Leadership qualities with the ability to mentor, motivate, and manage a drafting team.
- Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Experience in responding to office actions will be considered an added advantage.
